Good practice: E-learning Social safety (University of Amsterdam)
How do you recognize undesirable behavior? And more importantly, how do you deal with it – as an employee or student? Since 2023, the University of Amsterdam offers an accessible e-learning Social Safety for all students and employees.
The training increases awareness, provides insight into undesirable behavior within the university context, and offers concrete tools to respond to it. During onboarding, new employees are actively encouraged to use this e-learning – a powerful signal that social safety comes first.
Using four realistic and sometimes confrontational scenes – for example, during a work lecture or team meeting – the e-learning invites employees and students to reflect on this. This is important, because we create social safety together. This starts with recognition, understanding and the willingness to engage in conversation.

Good practice: Integrity & social safety reporting point-TU Delft
In an academic environment with diverse target groups, international context and complex power relationships, an accessible and careful reporting point is essential. Therefore, the TU Delft has set up a comprehensive Integrity and Social Safety reporting point – complementing existing complaining structures such as confidential counsellors, ombudsmen and complaints procedures.
This report point offers employees and students the opportunity to report integrity violations and abuses – social, organizational or scientific. The focus is explicitly on situations where several aspects come together, such as sexual harassment within a power relationship.
